Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
In short: TabGap keeps your saved tabs on your own device. We don't run analytics, we don't sell your data, and the free extension sends nothing to our servers. The only data that leaves your device is what's needed to run optional Pro sync and billing.
1. Who we are
TabGap is a browser extension provided by Techomated LLC ("Techomated," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information TabGap handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the TabGap extension and the website at tabgap.com.
2. Information we collect
- Your saved tabs, groups, and notes — created by you and stored in your browser's local storage on your device. We do not receive or store this on our servers in the free product.
- Settings — small preferences such as whether the floating button is shown and which side it sits on. Stored locally on your device.
- Account email (Pro only) — if you subscribe to TabGap Pro, we use the email address of the Google account you choose to sign in with, to identify your subscription.
- Payment information (Pro only) — handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
TabGap does not read, collect, or transmit the content of the web pages you visit.
3. How we use information
- To provide the core features — saving, grouping, searching, and restoring your tabs on your device.
- To operate TabGap Pro — verifying your subscription is active and syncing a compact copy of your groups across your browsers.
- To process and manage subscription payments (via Stripe).
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Where your data lives & cross-browser sync
By default, everything stays in your browser's local storage on your device. If you subscribe to Pro and turn on sync, a compact copy of your groups and tabs (titles, URLs, and notes) is placed in your browser's built-in secure sync storage so it reaches your other signed-in browsers. Bulk data such as favicons stays on your device and is not synced. Sync storage is provided and encrypted in transit by your browser vendor (Google/Microsoft); we do not run a separate tab database.
5. Third-party services
- Stripe — processes Pro subscription payments. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
-
Google Sign-In — used only to confirm the email of the account you choose for Pro. We
request the minimal
openidandemailscopes and nothing else. See the Google Privacy Policy. - Browser sync storage — Chrome/Edge carry your synced Pro data between your browsers.
6. Browser permissions
- Tabs / sessions — to save, open, close, and restore tabs at your request.
- Storage — to keep your saved tabs and settings.
- Context menus — to add the right-click "Open TabGap hub" item.
- Identity — only for Pro "Sign in with Google" to read your email.
- Access to pages — only to draw the TabGap hub overlay on the page. TabGap does not read page content.
7. Data retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the extension. For Pro subscribers, we retain the minimal subscription record (your email and subscription status) for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
8. Your rights & choices
- Access & deletion — clear your saved tabs anytime from the hub ("Delete all"), or uninstall TabGap to remove all local data.
- Turn off sync — disable Pro sync in settings at any time; the synced copy is removed.
- Cancel Pro — cancel anytime; your subscription record is closed.
- Request deletion of your Pro record — email us and we'll delete your subscription data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (e.g. GDPR/CCPA) to access, correct, or delete your data — contact us to exercise them.
9. Security
We keep the data we handle to a minimum, use reputable processors (Stripe), and rely on your browser's encrypted storage for sync. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected users of any material breach as required by law.
10. Children's privacy
TabGap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
11. International users
Techomated LLC operates in the United States. If you use TabGap from outside the U.S., you understand that the limited data we process may be handled in the U.S. by us and our processors.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, an in-product or on-site notice.
